- James Chen, Chief Analyst of Isaiah Research
Isaiah Research
# From Days to About an Hour: Freedom Systems Help Isaiah Research Put Claude to Work
Isaiah Research worked with Freedom Systems to bring Claude into research synthesis, report writing, and client conversations. According to the project team, report writing now takes about an hour, down from several days. The team can also tailor reports to each client's needs, while clients can use an AI consultant to ask questions and explore topics in real time.
Isaiah Research covers semiconductor manufacturing, advanced packaging, materials, and equipment. Over time, its analysts have accumulated extensive internal research alongside external material. A capacity adjustment can affect equipment demand and customer delivery schedules. A supply-chain observation made months earlier can take on new significance when a product launches. Analysts need to find the relevant information, establish its date and source, and work out how the pieces connect.
As the collection grows, retrieving earlier work becomes increasingly important. Freedom Systems combined Claude with an industry ontology that connects companies, technologies, products, and supply-chain relationships. An analyst investigating a technology can follow those connections to research on demand, capacity, and suppliers, without relying entirely on memory to locate a relevant report. Claude helps organize the material, compare perspectives, and develop reports around each client's questions.
One historical search illustrates the scope of that work. A query on a consumer-electronics technology identified **27 relevant sources: 23 internal research sources and four external sources**, spanning approximately **18 months**. This was the result of a single search. It gave analysts one list from which to examine earlier assessments, subsequent developments, and outside perspectives before deciding which material deserved closer reading.
Bringing that material together gives earlier research a continuing role. When a client asks how a trend developed, the team can retrace the timeline and explain what was known at each point and what changed later. Research prepared for an earlier report can inform a new question, support a follow-up discussion, or help an analyst revisit an assumption. The source material remains useful after its original publication.
Faster writing still needs to preserve Isaiah Research's own judgment. The assistant uses the firm's research as the foundation of its answers, then compares it with external material. Agreement provides supporting evidence. Contradictions are presented as differences to examine. Where internal research does not cover a topic, outside material is identified as supplementary. Readers can distinguish the team's position from views contributed by other sources.
When sources reach different conclusions, analysts can investigate whether the difference comes from timing, scope, or assumptions. Those distinctions are often exactly what a client needs to understand. Answers link back to original material so analysts can check the evidence. Where that evidence is incomplete, the assistant is expected to identify the gap, helping the team decide what requires further investigation.
The project also began with an ambition to extend a senior research leader's analytical experience to more colleagues. Knowledge transfer became part of the broader objective. Earlier reports and their sources can help newer analysts understand how a judgment was formed. Experienced researchers, in turn, have an opportunity to spend less time locating material or repeating background explanations and more time discussing what has changed. The goal is to make accumulated expertise easier for the whole team to use.
Shorter writing times also give the team more room to customize reports for individual clients. The same research collection can be organized around different needs, with analysts adjusting the emphasis and interpretation for each report. Clients receive material relevant to their own questions, while the team builds on work it has already done. The reported reduction from days to about an hour makes this personalized approach more practical within the report-writing process.
The real-time AI consultant extends that service beyond report delivery. Clients can ask an industry question, read the response, and follow up on the points that matter to them. A report becomes a starting point for further inquiry, with the underlying research available to support the conversation. Clients can explore at their own pace and bring more focused questions into discussions with analysts.
For example, a client examining the growth outlook for advanced packaging could begin with the relationship between demand and capacity. Follow-up questions might explore effects on suppliers, alternative views, or the variables to watch next. When the discussion calls for a consequential judgment, analysts can still use the sources and the client's questions to provide their professional interpretation. The service combines immediate access to research with a continuing role for human expertise.
Claude is used extensively across these research and client-service activities. The ontology connects related subjects, Isaiah Research's own work supplies the evidence and perspective, and Claude helps turn that material into reports and conversational answers. Freedom Systems brought these capabilities into everyday work so that a piece of research can serve more than one assignment: it can contribute to reports tailored to different clients and continue answering questions after those reports are delivered.
